Amanda Ivy: Welcome to those who made it today

Sylvia: Hey Amanda!

Amanda Ivy: Today we are discussing Jason Luke's In love with a Master

noemi: Hi girls!

Lexa: Hello all

Amanda Ivy: I want to start out by asking everyone, What were your feelings when you found out that Tiny died in Chaper 1?

noemi: I was so sad...I really like Tiny

Sylvia: Surprised when I first read it in JL's teasers, and felt very sad

Amanda Ivy: I personally felt sad and hearbroken for Jonah. Tiny was his only best friend and for him to lose him all of a sudden wasn't fair

noemi: It was a shock to me I didn't expect it

Lexa: I thinks was great way to start the book I really love that Jason make the choice to make Jonah have to loss a very import person in his life and that was the wake up call for Jonah

Sylvia: Especially with everything Jonah was going through!

Amanda Ivy: Did you really think it was an accident when they first told Jonah?

Sylvia: I agree Lexa

Lexa: First I think was that behing the accident was something more

noemi: Sarah is arriving in 5 min

Lexa: Ok

Sylvia: First thing that came to my mind was how strange it seemed since Tiny was supposed to be so experienced

Da Girls get an Interview

First and foremost we would like to thank Jason for taking time to answer some of our questions. Of course we had like a blazzillion but we were able to narrow it down to 2 questions each. Also, we send our thanks to Jen, his PA for helping us. 

Sylvia: Although Leticia is a beautiful name, it is not a common one, how did you decide on this name?
Jason: Leticia is actually the first name of the girl I based the character on. The real Leticia was indeed a journalist although she actually spelt her name Letitia.
Sylvia: Did you learn anything, that you didn't know before, from writing your book and what was it?
Jason: I don't think I learned anything, but I do think writing both of these books helped me crystalize my own thoughts and ideas on the subject of BDSM. I think I always had this knowledge, but never really articulated until I put the words into Jonah's mouth.

Lexa: How would you describe "In Love with a Master" to someone who has not read any of your previous books?
Jason: It’s very difficult. ‘In Love with a Master’ was written for fans of ‘Interview’. It was a book I never wanted to write but I did it following on from the first story, so it is hard to separate the two. I think ‘In Love’ is a book of hope and inspiration. I think the message behind the story is that life is indeed precious and that a moment wasted is one that will never be returned.
Lexa: Did you experience writer's block while writing?
Jason: No. But I did experience writer’s frustration! When I sat down to write ‘In Love’ I had a big long list of ingredients – the kind of things I wanted to include into the book based on what fans wanted to read. Weaving all these ingredients together sometimes proved frustrating.


Teo: Since your previous books were about Zombies,  what made you decide to write a romance/erotica series? 
Jason: I am an idiot!! Truthfully, the idea came to me after writing two zombie novels and constantly needing to research things like weapons (which I know nothing about). After I finished ‘Die Trying’ I asked myself what did I actually know anything about – ‘Interview with a Master’ was the result. But I am still an idiot for doing it.

(BTW DJLG do not think you are an idiot for bringing Jonah and Leticia into our hearts)

Teo: What do you think makes for a good story? Drama? Sex? Love?
Jason: Characters. Every book needs compelling characters that evoke emotions in the reader. It doesn’t matter what emotion each character elicits. The real success of a compelling story hinges in compelling characters.


(Only I, Princess Sarah, would want to know about the chickens)
Sarah:Ok you do realize I have to ask if the chickens will make a surprise appearance in any future books?
Jason: There is no way those damn chickens will make it into a book that I ever write. But stay tuned... Maybe Viv’s Great Dane is about to get a surprise mention.
Sarah: At any point, did you want to smack any of the characters upside the head?
Jason: No. As I said before you need characters in conflict to create good stories. In the first book Leticia was naive, but I needed her to be that way to ask the prompting questions that Jonah could then prophesize about. In the second book she becomes much stronger because the format changed from an interview to an actual story with a plot!

Noemi: We know that Jonah's character is based on your own experience. Is Leticia's character also based on a real person?
Jason: Some of Jonah experiences are indeed ones that are close to me, as are his thoughts about sex and women. Leticia, Sherry and Caroline are also loosely based on people I have known. Claire to a lesser extent.
Noemi: IwaM and ILwaM have become very successful in the US and UK, do you plan on translated them into different languages?
Jason: I have no plans to have the books translated. I have had offers from South American and Italian publishers for ‘Interview’, but I rejected those offers.

Amanda: The phrase "Anticipation is everything", is being used by women all over the world and we know what this phrase means to Jonah Noble,  can you tell us what "Anticipation is everything" means to Jason Luke?
Jason: I agree with Jonah (because his thoughts are my thoughts). Anticipation in a sexual situation is the essence of arousal. Having your partner tingling with the delight of the unexpected is crucial to creating intimate situations that transcend the ordinary. Familiar locations and familiar touches between partners can be elevated if only men would understand the power of a pause.
Amanda: You've stated many times that "ILwaM" was written for your fans. While writing this book, thinking back to the first word to the last word written and before the book was released, did you feel you wrote the book the ways the fans requested?  
Jason:I am happy with ILwaM because I do believe I honored my commitment to fans. It may not be the book I wanted to write, but that doesn't matter. The only thing that mattered through the entire writing process was my duty to respect the characters and satisfy the readers I did this work for. I have been gratified by all the positive reviews – and I feel I completed my obligation in the kind of way readers would have expected.
